Loading for Garand ..308 ?

Been a stretch since I played with my tanker garand in 308 ...
My bad , but failed to keep notes on loads back when ..
Have a lyman 311413 mold to use and with that said , also have 4064 and 4895 powder to use ...
I do remember using the 4064 back when as I have a bit more at hand but did not keep or misplaced my notes.
Life has taken a turn and I have more time available these days so thought I would play a bit with the "closet queen" as I hate to say .
With that , with all the experience at hand here on this site which is so valuable , would like to inquire as to starting loads , ext.
Have been looking at Hodgdens web site for loading but once again ..using cast , not jacketed .

lots of reading here ... if a cast load 308 works in a a M1A it should work in a 308 M1

Lee #2 has CB data section. I’m not at home so I can’t photo or link.
Bullets are mostly Lee design, but weight is the important criteria.
I use a Lee 200gr RNGC over 36.0gr of H4895 in my ‘06 Garands. Runs 2,050fps and shoots poa/poi at 50yds with 200yd zero on SR1 at 200yds with 150gr jacketed at 2,750fps. Runs smoothly like an industrial sewing machine. Just enough gas to reliably cycle action. ACCURATE! If I ever shoot another JCGarand match, I’ll use them.

Start at 25 gr with either powder using a dacron filler. Work up in 1/2 or 1 gr increments until functioning is just 100 %. The best accuracy, particularly with that cast bullet, will be at that point.

I also suggest a sizing of .311, Use Hornady GCs and a good softer 50/50 lube or 2500+.

30gr of 4895 is where mine started to function. With a rcbs 200gr sil bullet. Didn't go much higher till I found a good shooting load. Old clips ran perfect. Newer clips that still had lots of parkerizing still on them not so much.
