    Sight Identification

There were a couple of sights in a an estate sale box of shooting stuff I recently acquired. One was a Lyman 55 RWS, and then this one. There are no markings on it and it seems to be missing the screw in aperture but it looks well made.
Anybody have an idea of mfgr and model#, or what rifle it was intended for?
    Thanks

A better look at this interesting sight. I have not seen anything like it.

Nearly 40 years ago, I took my Marlin 782
bolt gun to the local gunsmith. I wanted a
peep sight put on but we had no discussion
    about make or model.

What I got back was this sight with a large
screw-in aperture epoxied to the peep
you see in the picture. No markings, no
    clue about who made it.

I expect he found it in his parts box.

    .

What you have is an original Marlin No. 12 Receiver sight, used on early .22RF Marlin Models 80 & 81 ….
