I think you are perfectly on track, saying that 357 mag is a do everything gun. It really is. Sounds to me like you don;t need that 223. It is a great caliber but not for everyone and every situation. Wallacem in Ga

They are all good and all will be effective within their own domain. A pragmatic concern is always ammo supply. A good argument for one of each.

But, having more cartridges just complicates the ammo supply issue. If you have only a couple then you can easily stock up enough ammo to last a lifetime.

Now I not only have a desire to get rid of my .223 but also my 9mm.

Charlie, before you get rid of that 223, remember that there is almost a inexhaustable supply of once fired brass for that caliber. That could be a very important factor in the unsure future.

Tell me about that mountain of 223 brass!

Instead of loading and shooting thus feeding the supply crisis, I have been going through a large quantity of used empty 5.56 and .223 processing it up for usage in bolt, single shot and non-PC guns.

I am moving forward without raising prices!

As for the OP, I say let her go! I like it when another used but good varmint gun enters the market.

Don't really care about how much free brass I can find, or ammo either.

I use Lapua brass and shoot Sierra 77gn Match Kings. I have enough brass to last the life of the barrel if I kept it. I already have 3500rounds through it.

Will see how things go at the next gun show.

PS Considering barrel life, probably not good of me to sell it. I'd just wait and put a new barrel on it.

Good idea. If I had used my brain, I would have kept the Ruger 77 MK II and rebarrelled it with a tighter twist and been a LOT better off for a lot less money.

Yeah, I will probably get a 6mm barrel for it. 6BR, Creedmore or similar.

Got some powder and primers at the LGS today. Only 2 kinds of powder, few pistols and rifles BUT lots of ar15s. If the MSR goes illegal/costly, the bolt gun may be worth MORE. Cast in 223? Nope.
    Whatever!
