their must be some material because they are made in both small and large primers
but blazer ammo uses the small size

Time needed to modify 50 primers, about a day with no rejects
Why not just do a swap with another reloader?

There was a thread within the last few months where a member was converting .38 special to large primer.

My guess is that yes it is feasible, but not cost effective. I don't think anything smaller in diameter than the .38 would work, but both the .38 and 10mm were originally large primer cases.

Why bother. Conversion would be more work than simply trading the cases you do not want for some that you prefer.

I’ll trade you some small rifle primers for the large pistol if you like...

That brings up a question I've never been able to find an answer to: Why did they change these cases from large to small primers? I've heard that 38/44 and .357mag cases were originally large pistol primers. Perhaps the small primer better resists high case pressure?

One of the members here has bored out to use shotgun primers in some various cases. Lathe and small boring bar. Go to it!
