A little something I made the other day.

I thought I'd share something I came up with the other day. I recently bought a sporterized but a very well sporterized 1898 Krag-Jorgensen made in 1901. I couldn't find dies anywhere but found brass, imagine that! So I found an old set of Pacific dies on eBay and bought those. They came in a Lee die box which they didn't quite fit in because the decapping stem is so long so I cut a slot in the box for the decapping stem to stick through. That still looked funny and was messing with my OCD. So I thought "Wait a minute! I have a 3D printer!" Now I've printed a lot of stuff but this is my first design, not bad for having used a free CAD program and not knowing what I was doing for the most part.

Nice box! Good solution to the shellholder too. Might add another parts bin to it

I stole the shellholder location from the LEE die box.

Very nice work Kyle. You should make a run or two of those that would fit the older dies that came with the large round adjustment rings. They won't fit in the modern plastic boxes. james

They probably would. It takes about 8 hours to print the box and 7 hours to print the lid. So figure a whole days waking hours for each one. They probably cost about $2.50-$3 in material to make.

Yea, good idea and nice job but profit would only be made running them in injection mold. Those molds would make many boxes at a time. If it was profitable there would be a lot more stuff made on 3d printers.

Great idea! Can you make it with cartridge name on the end rather than the top? I have a bunch of die boxes stacked up on the shelf. It would be nice too see the name from the end. I'd be interested in them for some of my obsolete/oddball dies.

I can put the name anywhere. I can also move the slots for the die lock rings. I have now designed a 3 die version, and I’m currently making a couple for another member.

any custom storage needs can be one-offed in a 3d printer, with your choice of color / material, like clear (natural) PLA, or the more usual green, red, orange, or blue as a few known companies use

Nice job! Makes me start thinking harder about a 3D printer myself.
