    Nei 190 308

Anyone here with experience with this bullet?
Resembles the 311299 except the body appears to be a bit shorter with one lube groove. My copy drops a COWW bullet .314" on the bands and .302" on the nose. I assumed when I got the mold that maybe the 190 was bullet weight but in the COWW alloy this thing weighs 218 gr lubed and gas checked. Guess I misunderstood NEIs numbering system. Regardless, my 4 groove 03A3 barrel seems to love this bullet
I size the nose to .301" for easier chambering with the bullet body in the case neck.

IIRC the markings of "old" NEI molds indicated weight from straight linotype (dunno 'bout the later ones 'cause those I own are all from the late 1980's-early 1990s). I've got a .30 cal. with a profile very similar to the Lyman 311041 that's marked "170" but drops just over 190 gr. from COWW+2% Sn. Likewise, with GC, my "411-215" IHMSA boolit goes 232 gr. from Lyman #2.

I bought the mold in question th on from Fred Sinclair. I know that was quite a while ago but honestly can't remember if that was 15, 20 or 25 years ago. I think it dates to 80s or early 90s. Fred used this bullet in .308 and maybe in the Krag.
Can't ask for details as Fred passed last year.
