    Annealer advice needed

I am thinking very seriously about finally buying an brass annealer. My eyes are not what they use to be and I have a hard time of seeing the color change now. What do you recommend and why. Over $500.00 and it is out of my league. Thanks, james

I have an older Annealeze, would strongly consider a Mike's Reloading Bench one if buying today.

I had an Annealeze 2, and sold it after being frustrated the entire time... For your budget, either build your own inductive annealer (if you like projects like that or just really want inductive but won't spend $2k on one), or get a Mikes Reloading Bench- well worth it.

There are alot of annealers now on the market. I found current annealer are set up for rimless cases. since I shoot a lot of different antique military rifles , most a big rimmed cases. my annealer is a Sagebrush Annealer from Sagebrush Outfitters . A simple turntable with guide rods and 1 speed . 1 Revolution per minute, Dual torches.
You can run 22 hornet to 577 3' nitro. You put the case on and goes around in a box or water. Had mine since 2017 perfect .Cost appox $300.00 + ship.
easy to run , easy to used

I also have a Giraud and it works well for me. It may be outside of your quoted budget though.

I have an Annealeez 2. It's a great piece of gear for $275 delivered. I like filling the hopper and letting it do it's thing. I can see where rimmed cases wouldn't feed well using the hopper. I would think that feeding rimmed cases one at a time would work OK. A lot of annealers are fed one case at a time no matter if they are rimmed or rimless.

I don't know how much annealing you need to do but I cobbled together a DIY version for $35. I convert .223 to .222 & it works great. Did 100 cases in about 10 min. Plans are all over YouTube. Just FWIW....Attachment 281082

Have a giraud and an amp, if I had the time I’d have made one like @pertnear, looks like a pretty easy project. In fact someone should just make a $75 kit.

I have an Annealeez 2. I do .30-40, .45-70, .50-70, .43 Spanish, 10.4 Italian with no problems at all, all on the same short magnum wheels, with minor adjustments to aim the torch. Highly reccomended. The new digital controls really transform this piece of equipment. Has enough hose to allow me to run the torch off a 20 lb bottle set beneath the bench.

I use molten lead in a shallow pan on a hot plate. The temp is set with a PID and lead level to the depth you want heated. Hold a test case in your fingers and dip the neck and shoulder. It should only take a few seconds at 800 degrees ,count the seconds and stop before the middle of the case gets to hot to hold. I wipe the case necks with an oiled rag so no lead sticks to the case. It is fast and you can control aspects. You won’t get the pretty colors and please don’t try pistol cases. It is better to deprime the brass first.
