How to barrel change Ruger American

Is anyone switching barrels on their Ruger American? I have one American (Ranch) and I'm looking to buy a second (Hunter in .308 if I can ever find one to buy).

What are you using to unscrew the lock nut and what are you using to hold the action. I would greatly appreciate some advice.

I've changed barrels back and forth on my benchrest rifles hundreds of times. There we clamp the barrel and put a wrench through the action. The Ruger's flat sided action looks deceivingly like something that could be secured in a vice and a band wrench used to crack the nut loose.

Then I start thinking that it could take three hands to hold the action with go gauge, the barrel and the nut spanned wrench. And advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill.
