    Unicorn ?

Yesterday morning, during a Bible study on the topic of Passover, the Teacher just glanced over this verse 😱
...I want to know more 🧐

"And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness." -Isaiah 34:7 King James Version

“If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.”

    This is my preferred explanation.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!

    Here you go:

A re'em, also reëm (Hebrew: רְאֵם‎), is an animal mentioned nine times in the Hebrew Bible. It has been translated as "unicorn" in the King James Version, and in some Christian Bible translations as "oryx" (which was accepted as the referent in Modern Hebrew), "wild ox", "wild bull", "buffalo" or "rhinoceros".

    IHuntDragons,
Yes, I am aware of that, as I have read some commentaries on this before I posted here. What I want to know is Who translated it? Was there a real animal that was commonly known as a Unicorn in the 16th or 17th Century? Why use the word unicorn, as I assume it was a mythological creature in the early 1600's, just as it is now, correct?

They may have met an aurochs and one horn was all they needed to see.
They are extinct now, they looked like a very very big bad wild longhorn.

their dust made fat with fatness. ???
I remember once I asked a very learned holy man how many people actually understand what they read in the Bible. he replied maybe 1 in 10 on average, but not too many overall.

The wonder of it all is that such topics as unicorns have no bearing on any Christian doctrines.

I've been told by some learned men that such puzzling things in scripture usually refer to common stories within the Hebrew culture that illustrate a valid point they would understand just as we understand Aesop's Fables; that makes sense to me.

two things of note here... one, english is a lousy language to translate anything into. second, the unicorn of antiquity was a goat...not a horse. when that point gets made, the realm changes, substantially. many decades ago, johnny carson had a guest who had successfully bred a unicorn, a goat with a single, spiral horn. smart little beast which had a devious mind as to how to use that horn. no details needed
