Very nice. I also find the flask interesting. Is it leather molded over a metal flask, or is the leather itself the flask?

The flask was done with an interesting technique, I wet the leather which as been stitched and then I pack it with dry sand until the shape is achieved. then let the leather dry and empty the sand.i actually is an easy technique. Usually I turn the brass fittings for the spout. I'm not sure if the one pictured was mine or a commercial unit. I've even made them from cow horn with a wooden plug also. these can be used for either powder or shot.

Hey neighbor, that is some gorgeous work there. I’ve done a little leather work, but you’re way out of my league. Those cows died for a good cause, and I am far beyond impressed.

BTW, where in Central VA are you located? I’m in Lynchburg.

Really like that handle on the knife! It looks marvelous. Question though on the tan 1911 rig. Why does the stitch line make that backwards "J" along the slide belly? Are you going to put a tensioner in later?

Me, too. I wasn't the expert that my brother was. He kept himself in smokes and other such things in HS doing some really excellent leatherwork. I was OK with the basics. There is much to be said for a nice, plain, well-made leather belt, though.

When I was in grad school in Richmond, VA back in the late’70s I lived about three blocks from the local Tandy Store, managed by (IIRC) the district manager. I wish I had done more than the few things I did back then... just another example of a great opportunity I missed. I could go on, but the tears are dripping on my keyboard.

on the 1911 holster , that just added a little stiffness to the top of the holster and was part of the belt loop.

On the Kabar, did you hve to remove the bottom (pommel) in order to get the new leather disks on,
or is there some trick I don't know about?
