New guy looking for 210gr 30-06 loads

    Hello,

New guy here struggling with the search function on the forum. Looking for 30-06 cast loads and getting 100's of posts for every caliber known. I must be doing something wrong.

I set the search for post titles only "30-06 cast bullet loads".

    thanks for any help.

Hi leverite, welcome to the Cast Boolits Forum. I tried the search feature, and it isn't working for me either. I'll pass the information along to Administration. Until the problem gets resolved some of our very knowledgeable members may want to give you some loads from their notebooks. Glad to have you aboard!

What powder do you have to work with and what type of loads do you want to make?

I have some Montana 210gr gas check, 0.310" Hardcast that I intended for my 30-40krag Win 1895.
Couldn't get decent accuracy so now wanting to try them in my 30-06 Win 1895.
I have a little imr4350, and a lot of Rl 7. Also some Rl 15 and Varget.

Found some "Rx 7" data in an old Lyman manual. I assume this is Rl 7??

    Looking for 1800fps max.

    Very cool forum!
    Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks! This old info is more complete than the newer data I had. This has my my exact bullet, #311284.

Still...the reference to Rx7 is confusing. What else could it be but Reloader 7?

Much can change in 30 years.

Hold Still Varmint; while I plugs Yer!

Rx7 is Lyman Speak for Alliant Reloader 7. 25 grains will 1685 fps at 22,200 CUP to start, 38 grains is the top and gives 2254 fps @ 47,000 CUP. 19.0 grains of 2400 will give about 1596 Fps @ 27,000 CUP, 24 grains will give you about 1827 fps at 32,000, according to Lyman's #3 Cast Bullet Manual.

I have found RL7 works well in almost all of my cast Boolits Rifle Loads.
I started using it when I couldn't find any 4759 any more.
A lot of my loads are with 312-299 cast powder coated slugs.
So that is close to the 210 gr stuff you want to use.
I use around 35 gr of RL7 in most of my .06's
    A little less in my 7.62 x54's

Ideal & Lyman are the same ... 311284 Designed for .30-40 Krag, but excellent for all 30 calibers. Very accurate up to 600 yards. (GC, SP, 214 - TP is 467

Have you checked the throat area of your rifle? .310 might not be big enough fo fill the grooves of your barrel. Your Krag may need something as big as .314 or so depending on the dimensions.

My Garand likes the 210gn bullet over 3031 and 4166. (Accurate 31-210E). Just under 2000fps.

I loaded most of my 30.06 rounds with 3031. It always worked well for me.
