Did this happen last time ?

Gotta ask did casting equipment go up in price and or vanish last few elections or hoarding campaigns or is it just this one ?

I think it's this one. Last one it was rim fire and 9mm shortages. This is the worst i ever saw.

Yes the last one was nothing compared to this one. As posted above those where the 2 hardest rounds to purchase, but reloading equipment and dies were still available

I've been an avid shooter/reloaders since 1970. I have not seen anything this bad and we have 2 to 3 years before is hopefully gets better. If the Left holds the House and Senate at the mid terms it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Every time a democrat is president people buy guns, ammo, and reloading equipment. It takes at least a year with a Republican in office for it to come back to normal. If there is ever a Republican in office again, Stock up for a lifetime, Most people here did so. This is the worst of all the shortages.

I don't remember loading or casting equipment being difficult to come by the last manufactured shortage. Powder, 22 ammo and 9mm & 223 ammo yes. But none of that had any effect on me personally. I remember being able to get whatever I wanted or needed but, after almost 50 years of doing this my wants and needs are minimal.

I have been reading the board archives a lot lately. At the moment I'm back in 2009. Quite a few threads then that could simply have their dates changed to now and no one would know the difference.

These things are cyclical. When ever a Democrat takes the White House ammunition, components, equipment dry up for a while. Eventually matters settle down, but it can take time.

What has amplified this particular cycle is the pandemic and the rioting we saw last summer taking place during a presidential election compounded by the Democrats taking control of Congress. That turned the amplifier up to eleven!

My recollection of the two previous "runs" on the shooting world supplies market.

    2007-08
There was a spike in commodities prices, just as the housing bubble was breaking. Prices crept up for items that contained Brass, copper, steel. Then when Obama won his first election, that tripped the trigger. AR-15 clones prices skyrocketed and shortages of common ammo and then hording/crazy secondary market prices followed. Powder and primers were somewhat effected, but not like today. As I recall, it took about a year or two to calm down...2010-11 when the Tea Party made big Gains in the House.

    Dec. 2012
The Sandy Hook incident. With the 07-08 thing fresh in our minds, it was almost instantaneous that AR-15 clones were all sold off the store shelves, then 223/556 ammo, then 22LR ammo (I still can't explain why that happened?) and then other related items. Powder and primers were more so effected than 07-08. 22 caliber boolit molds were unobtanium, but other casting related equipment wasn't effected very much. This craziness one lasted a couple years...but the 22LR market never recovered.

We've had bans, panics, shortages and price increases before,,, but I've never seen one this severe or encompassing before. But Ronny was in the White House when I started out, so I'm just a yout compaired to some here.
Anything firearm related seem scarce to unobtainable today,,, at just about any price.

I don't remember dates well but it is a democrat induced problem, this being the worse I've seen so far. Last time guns going first. IIRC; then ammo, then reloading components were hit, but most components still available. This time everything guns/shooting/reloading is hit hard, even air guns and pellets (I looked for 22 pellets and had to go to 4 or 5 vendors to find any). I can't even give a wild guess on how long this will last as it's the worse the country has experienced and our government steadily gets more immoral and corrupt we may have a battle on our hands. I'm looking for 2024 for Trump's reelection...

It is administration induced, but this is the worst I've seen since I've been alive.

    My manufacture date is 1951.

Yeah, I 'specially remember the Clinton years. I sold the first (and only!) AR I ever owned (a Colt H-Bar with a Wilson trigger group) for over three times what I'd invested in it...without the slightest hint of regret. I do, however, regret the pair of freshly rearsenaled...they were in cosmoline with new barrels when I got them...Russian SKS that I let go around the same time.

I think this time, more people realize what a threat the left is to our rights.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
