compressed air connectors

I was reading a post here about compressors. Not wanting to divert the post I am opening this one. I have a small compressor and the connector at the tank leaks when I move it. Are there good connectors that don't leak or are they all prone to do this? What brand connectors are good?

Auto parts stores usually have good ones.
Milton is a premium brand of them.

They all wear out over time, but the el cheapos do it sooner.

I have a lot of air in my shop. And all of my connectors are cheap Chinese junk that wear out within a year or two, that is IF they even work from the start!

I had the Ingersol Rand repair man over last week and questioned him about this. He said the tool division of their company sells a lever lock type that is better than the push pull type.

I haven’t had a chance to check them out yet.

i use flexeel hoses, they come with fittings, they last a long time i use them everyday. i can't stand leaking fittings.
If you have a contractor tool supply store near you try them first, they will have good ones. Brass bind less than the steel ones also.

Parker brand fitting are good also

Industrial grade brands of air connectors are much better and last a whole lot longer than the ChiCom made Horrible Freight brand.

Look around for some industrial contractor supply houses. They will fix you up. A net search of your area is the best place to start.

The point here is yes they do make good connectors but they are expensive once but they last longer than several cheap ones so over time I'm not sure but I think they are cheaper than the junk connectors HF sells.

There are a great many types of quick connect hose fittings......however once you go beyond the el cheapo Nitto type,they aint el cheapo any more.......I had to use a special air fitting that wouldnt separate until both sleeve and spigot were pushed in .......so they couldnt pop apart if dragged over an obstruction like a Nitto.....cost was something like $60 each.

And there are different styles of connectors. Some will interchange between types and some will not.

The devices are fairly simple; 3 or 4 ball bearings locked by a tapered collar, a self sealing port on the female connector that mates with the male connector and some springs and gaskets. Dirt is the enemy.

There are real Milton connectors and Milton "STYLE" connectors, and they are priced accordingly.

Whatever path you decide to take - Jump in with both feet. Do not try to equip yourself piecemeal. Buy all of the female connectors you need and the matching male connectors, plus a couple of spares - all at once. Generally you only need a few female connectors (working end of the hose, compressor output or each fixed pipe outlet) You need more male connectors (one for each tool, plus spares for future tools or damaged connectors).
