    NOE HTC 452 - 230 - RF - AH3 OAL question

So I just started using this mold and love the bullet. Powder coating.

I have 2 Dan Wessons. CCO and Vigil

With the Vigil I can load them at 1. 195 and they chamber fine but those won't chamber in the CCO. I need to get them down to 1.140 for them to chamber in the CCO

These look a little short but are still crimping on the shoulder (barely).

Loaded over 4.7 gr IMR target

Does anyone else have this mold and have found you need to load this short? I'm debating between loading short or having barrel reamed to get some leade as the CCO rifling goes right to the chamber.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated

I had Doug open the leade on a barrel for me and now it gobbles anything. Might be worth doing.

Did if affect the barrel accuracy?

Is that the TL bullet mold from NOE? I have exactly the same one. I set mine to 1.195" and it chambers in my Springfield MC Op. At this length, the case rim crimps on the first bullet band.

Your cco may have a tighter chamber.

Consider sizing the bullet to 451" and check your crimp.

I personally would not seat that as short as 1.140. When it's that short, there is very little case tension on the bullet and you risk a bullet setback.

It looks like his sizing die is is tight if the bulge at the base of the bullet is from seating the bullet and not from the expander if so he can test for set back and see if he gets any. The tight case may hold it fine.
But may need to back off on the powder charge for the deeper seated bullet.

I ended up having a Smith open the leade up on the CCO rifling. I have them loaded at 1.2075 now and they plunk like supposed to and look much better. Shoot great too. Thanks for all the advice guys. Great community here

Yeah, finish reaming the chamber gives you the most options in bullets styles and OAL.

Jimmy, Did a search and came to this issue you are having with seating depth.. I have the same mold and same issue on 4 of my 45's, three are 1911s and one xdm. Did the plunk test on all and was wondering about my seating depth of 1.153 as being a bit too short. I believe it was Ranchdog from noe mentioned that it'd be fine! I really like the brass but get's the wrist a good workout after a while. Oh, I do size to .452 after pc'ing HF red...
