Thank Y’all for your great input! Lots of info to mull around in my pea brain, great first world problem. I have perused Jim Chamber’s horse pistols to be sure, then thought perhaps a good pistol kit before ordering a Kibler rifle kit? The allure of these throw backs are strong as I’ve gotten older..... Fowler’s, there is another rabbit hole lol!

First purchase was a LH 50 caliber Tennessee Mountain Rifle. Next up was a LH 54 Caliber Renegade. Last but not least was a SS ROA. Extremely satisfied with all. All have taken deer.

I can tell you from experience, building a pistol is harder than building a long gun.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
