    1,000# sort complete!

Many thanks to those who created the informative stickies!

After a break for illness & oral surgery, I finally finished sorting 1,000# of WW purchased a few weeks back.

    Final tally:
    678 # COWW
    64# SOWW

I might see if the source has more at the same price. If I do I’ll ask to take a look first.

I received them in 10 buckets. He had them ready on a pallet and just forked into the back of my truck.

The buckets were a little hit or miss. 2 were almost 100% COWW. One was maybe 25% and another about 40%. The rest about 65-70% I’d guess.

The painted Pb weights were deceiving at first. I was afraid they were Zn, but fortunately searched the forum and found out what they are.

The melt will be the final test, but I found very few non-Pb COWWs that weren’t marked Zn or Fe.

That'll keep ya out of those crooked BINGO parlors for awhile.

    Yup.

That’s part of the reason I bought them. After investing in a smelting setup, I decided I needed a lot more lead to justify the cost.

    A thousand pounds!

I've only got about 250lbs to sort and I'm not looking forward to it.

    Good job.

    Congratulations on the nice score!

Sorting is not that bad and gets easier and faster after you have sorted a few buckets. I'm finding fewer Zinc weights and more steel lately.

Don't worry when you still find a zinc one or two. It happens. Just watch your temperature.
