    what is it whithout photo

a friend was given a box of dupont black powder or so the wooden box said, when he opened it, it contained real dupont black powder but it was in hard compacted rolls with a hole down the centre. the wrapper said dupont black powder #5. it looks like a stick of dynamite until you unwrap it. my guess is it was used before dynamite and the hole was for a blasting cap, any body got any info on what these were for.

    Little Giant blasting powder.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!

problem is its not powder, its a round hard tube. its the same hardness as the pucks from my homemade after they come out of the 20 ton press.

the hole is about 3/8 inch. how big was the fuse back then. the stick is about 10 inches long and about 2 inches in diameter.

I have watched a canon fired with this type of fuse. It's possible they used this type with a regular fuse to ensure ignition.
