    .223 Cast loading?

I have not cast for the .223 Rem but am interested in it. I've read a lot about the Bator boolet but never seen one. What other molds work well and at what velocities, lubes etc?

Most interested in paper punching 100-200 yards and plinking. I'll be using a Ruger 77 MKII and an 1885 Low wall. 1:10" twists.

    I liked the 225-55 NOE @62 gr I think it's the 225-62 now .
    Ran it 2640 fps in a 222 , 1-14" but could only get about 2050 in the 1-8 223 .
H322 jacketed data , it would have probably been better with 4198 but the gas gun didn't run well with it .

I'm going to be picking up a Ruger American Ranch 5.56 and am interested in feeding it cast to save my j-word stock for the AR's.
    Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.

I have a Browning bolt action in 223 with a 1:12" barrel that shoots a 55gn cast and gas checked boolit at 2,700fps, grouping at 50 yds is not brilliant but shows promise

Im using the MP 227 75 Nato boolit over 20 grains of 748 in my AR's with 1/7 twists and a new Savage Axis 223 1/9 twist. The Savage can take a longer OAL but im limited by the mags in the AR's.

    Have a few 22 moulds. Shoot 223 and 22-250.

Lee 225-55rf (not bator) does FANTASTIC in 223. Sorta luck of the draw on mould QC,mine is spot on. To the point,it's the most perfect,as cast "round" as any mould here. Loaded with one of the 4198's in the 18.5-19.5 range is where most of my 223 bolt guns work. This is the old 222 accuracy loads from years ago.

RCBS 60G works peachy in the 22-250's. Lyman 45g,think it's the 225415 "light" has been all but useless in the half dz 22's I've tried. The mould isn't the issue,it's the length/weight thing. Probably work well in the 22 hornet(don't have one).

Oh yeah, the 60g RCBS in the 250's LOVE 4831. Very high velocity, with bugholes.

    Good luck with your project.
