Super nice looking. Douglas barrel or something special ordered? I also just got mine earlier this month, also a 13 month wait. I got the Silhouette model 40-65, Bartlein barrel, checkering, 5x wood, and rust blued. That's some pretty nice checkering I thought, was a little worried how it'd turn out but I thought it looks pretty good. I took my 2 boys there last January and we spent several hours hand picking the wood blanks out, pretty cool to be able to do that.

My mainspring stirrup broke on the 63rd shot. Shot 60 the hammer felt a little funny when I cocked it, but the next 3 shots fired ok, then when I went to cock it for shot 64 the hammer was just flopping loose. Tore the action apart and found the stirrup broke where the pin goes thru the hole. Quick email and part was on the way, supposed to show up today. Maybe keep an eye out since ours were built in the same time frame, not sure if just got a bad part or if there is a batch of them.

Very nice! I've got a couple of CPA rifles and I like them quite a lot. The .32-40 is a really enjoyable cartridge to shoot with 14gr of IMR-4227 and a 200gr breech seated bullet. Have you bought a mold for it yet? My two CPA barrels in .32-40 have completely different chambers on them for what ever reason. They have different preferences for bullets, but the Saeco 200gr tapered bullet is a pretty decent bet if you don't have anything yet. I bought mine from Buffalo Arms.

Before shooting it I'd recommend going over all of the screws to make sure they aren't loose. Mine had a few action screws that weren't at all tight when they arrived. The main spring hold down screw for instance .

They do shoot quite well. Interestingly the first one I ordered came with a .32-40 and a .38-55 barrel. I ordered them both to be set up for breech seating, but both had quite abrupt leade angles on them. I was a bit disappointed until I found out that they shot very well regardless .

The newer rifle has a much different chamber design ( with shallower leade angle ) and it shoots a custom Steve Brooks bullet quite well.

I'm sure you'll be really happy with it. It sure is a beautiful rifle.

    Chris.

I bought a 200gr tapered mold with the rifle. It is suppose to match the throat. I'm hoping......... going to cast some bullets tomorrow. It will be next weekend before I get to shoot

DA-YUM! I shouldn'ta looked. Went through the Cody museum in 2015 and a fair bit of time was spent drooling on the Stevens display cases. Had almost forgotten - until now. Thanks a lot!

Beautiful rifle, and the engraving is very tasteful! Did they tell you why they didn't ship the palm rest with the gun?

Palm rest needed a few more coats.

I had called and talked with Gail. I asked for the gun to be shipped Monday or wait until the following Monday. I didnt want the gun in the Gunshop all week. I could only make it to the Shop Friday or Saturday.

I'm guessing she didnt have the palm rest ready and shipped the gun any way. She has been a very good person to deal with.

Had a note saying palm rest will ship to my house.
