My bullets work a lot better now. Defiantly need to seat checks before powder coating and they look cool when the checks not coated but if you want them on and square check before coating is the way to go.

Any problem with the gas check coming off when shaking bullets in paint in bowl?

None yet, but just got started PC'ing. SOME PROBABLY WILL. Gas check on OD Green and lubed & sized RCBS 22-55-SP's. Original, as cast, not PC'd, and Bacon Grease PC, are each unchecked. My PC is not as purdy as some, not double coated, show wire mesh adherence marks, and may get nicer as I improve my techniques. These PC'd boolits are from my noobie first batches...

If it was easy, anybody could do it.

As mentioned in another thread on seating gas checks, I started seating and crimping powdercoated bullets in two steps, as this person shows in his video. 99.9% success rate.

I also gas check first and then powder coat and resize.

    Here’s some pics:

So, are you guys just snapping the gas check on and powder coating? Or do you run it through the sizer to crimp the check on before coating?

If it's the latter, it seems like there's a lubricant issue.

I take the cast bullet and snap on a gas check. I then run it through the Lubri-Sizer. Depending on the bullet, some of them could be pretty hard to run through since there’s no lube on the bullet.

If that happens, I simply dampen the bullet with plain water and the run it through the sizing die. That makes it easier and the surface of the bullet is not contaminated with any lubricant for later powder coating.

    That’s my practice, at least.

I seat the GC, run through the sizer then PC. I size again after PC. I use a RCBS lube pad with the RCBS case lube, which is water soluble. A simple wash with Dawn dish soap and then rinse takes it all off.

I was under the impression that powder coated bullets , doesn't the powder coat prevent flame cutting of the base ?

The only gas checked bullets I now use are 1) RCBS RN 9mm. 2) a RN for the U.S. .30 caliber M1 Carbine.
RCBS checks did not fit my RCBS cast bullet, so I switched to Sage's Gator gas checks for that application, and it worked really good. Gator Checks went on easier than the RCBS checks did and the Gators stayed on when shaking.

These are the 9mm Gator checks... I will stick with Sage's Gator checks for the 9mm from now on... better outcome than with RCBS checks.

The Carbine checks were likely RCBS, no big problems, but some problem with checks becoming dented when sized.

If you needed a gas check for accuracy at the speeds/pressured you are running with lube. You will still need a gc at them speeds for accuracy with powdercoat. I have not seen any magic in powder coat that removes the need of the gas check if it needed one with lube anyway. YMMV
