    H&R Shikari 45-70

I just picked up an old Shikari, It is a pretty cool gun, has a cleaning rod where the ramrod of a muzzleloader would go. Going to load som Bullshop bullets over IMR3031 and see what it can do after I get it back from repairs. The trigger is less than what you would call a hair trigger, I am assuming from worn out parts.

Bought one new back in '73 or so. I really like it, it shot well. I still have it and its brother in 44 mag.

Ductile iron receiver. Bottom level Springfield loads only. Remove the ramrod before shooting...it's going to come out anyway.

I watch a old character on U-tube called Logcabinlooms, and he used one of those rifles. I liked the looks and simplicity of it, some day I'm going to find one.

Factory ammo is loaded to 28,000 psi max.(SAMMI), it will do fine but you may not like the recoil.

Mine like factory Winchester 300 HP's.
Tried reloading, but nothing shot as well as the Winchester 300's.
Mine is the long barreled rifle.
I did smooth out the trigger a bit. Also rounded the edges.[trigger]

IIRC, you put the ramrod in place and turn it about 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place

No updates on this yet. They still have it at the gunsmith. I'm fighting myself on bugging them about it. I have some of the Leverevolution ammo which Hornady says is fine for the gun, and some Trapdoor Precision one ammo. I had never heard of precision one until I seen it at the store, 100 rounds of 45-70 for $120. They are 350gr soft point and out of the 155 barrel should be around 1450fps
