MOST, not all, of the people that I went to high school with have similar political views as mine. I’m “friends” with exactly two people that I have never met face-to-face and I’ve had personal interaction with both of them. I’ve expected to get put in FB jail a few times but was surprised that I wasn’t, over pre-election political discourse.

Mostly I participate in discussions surrounding radio controlled airplanes, keep up with high school classmates and shop on Marketplace.

Absolutely zero need or desire for it. Wife uses it to sell some stuff once in a great while...and has to figure out how to do it every time she uses it so rarely.

I will never be on. In addition to the privacy issues I have read some disturbing information about how social media can have negative mental health consequences for some people. Some folks get depressed because their life doesn't measure up to the lives of folks on social media. Never mind that most folks don't post the less glamorous parts of their lives. You can be anything in cyberspace.

As a LEO I would not touch facebook with a ten foot pole. Every Cop I know who is on facebook has had problems because of it.

It's funny - I first got onto FB many years ago simply so I could easily keep up with family and friends, as most of us probably did. Over the years, however, I've been drawn like a magnet towards the anti-gun lunatics and started taking them on quite heavily with facts - didn't make me popular at all and I experienced many attempts at doxxing, trying to find my workplace, etc.

More recently I've gotten the typical FB bans - not that I care a whole lot but it does irk me a little that FB never looks at the context of my comment. For example, I once mentioned the cynical and awful 'Arbeit Macht Frei' slogan above the gates of Auschwitz - and FB promptly decided that my quoting that phrase implied support for Nazis, the boneheads.

Yesterday I was in the midst of tackling a whole bunch of anti-gunners on a Lefty page and (in my opinion) slaughtering them with facts when some person said "Oh, we'll just go to gun-owners' houses and take their guns" to which I replied "You'd better take lots of friends and lots of body-bags". Just a warning that it wouldn't end well for anyone if they were dumb enough to do that - but of course FB claims it was "Hate Speech" and shut me down for 3 days.

Anyone else get this kid of thing?

I'm on Facebook to stay in touch with my kids and grandkids. They load up videos and pictures almost daily. I also have a bunch of friends from High School on there as well as aunts and uncles and cousins.

I don't typically engage the leftists on there, including my own kids, in arguments, so have never had an issue.

Then I got invited to join a gun enthusiasts group a month ago. I posted a picture of my latest gun purchase, an AR pistol, and somebody in the group asked me a question about it. I replied "Negative Ghost Rider, it is registered as a pistol so is legal without a stamp". Got a 3-day ban for that. No idea why. My brain can't figure out how using a term from Top Gun is hate speech.

If I was banned from FB ,and all the forums I waste time on ,I might actually get something done around the yard and house.....My father used to get accused of wasting an hour a day reading the paper ,from 6-7am,but Im wasting half the day.....need to cold turkey......but cant dump the net entirely ,as all my finances are done online.

I dont understand the social media fixation myself. I remember when the internet started I thought this is pretty cool: a fast mailing and information access tool. Coupled with MS office and video streaming it covered everything. The next 20 years were a waste of a trillion bucks selling the same things different ways. back in the 20th century we got used to groundbreaking discoveries every 10 years. The last 20 years has been doubling the useless functions on an excel spreadsheet and different sized cellphones.

My wife reads facebook for pictures of her grandkids etc. But her facebook account was recently suspended. She never says ANYTHING!

Back before the election I did post a picture of puppethead dufus being dufus like. They would not go back that far now would they?

I won't dwell any time over it, These fact checkers are the liberal Krauts you read about living in mommies basement and won't get a real job or can't pass a drug test.
What I do periodically is use the blocking feature to block fact checkers from even seeing what I'm doing or at least for a short time.
Other than buying or selling a few items,High school buds and family its a huge waste of time.

Its certainly magic for selling .....buying I dont waste time,because anything useful is gone in seconds.....Someone I know sells NOS antique truck parts for astronomical sums ......no time wasters either he says.
