First time messing with PC and it was so easy, like falling off a log, with just one snag of my own doing.
Accurate mold, 416 grain .459" bullets for the .45-70 Henry single shot.
Eastwood Ford Light Blue just stuck in the toaster oven @ 400*F ...
20 minutes later, ding! Cookies are ready ... you can see how the flat finish of the blue turned very glossy ...
All cooled down and resized to .459" and they are ***PERFECT*** in every way but ONE ...
The aluminum foil stuck to the bases and I had to lightly sand it off.
The process I use was simple - I put a tiny bit of the powder in a closed container, threw in the bullets, swirled them around for a minute - but actually it took about 15 seconds to fully coat - stood them up one at a time on the foil, cooked 'em, air cooled 'em, sized them to .459". Clearly, the foil was not the ticket. What long range bullets require is a good base edge, so I'm thinking about setting each on a 1/4" disc of something to elevate it slightly off the pan, that way the bullet edges would be Perfect. There is no great bullet volume I require, maybe 60 at a time at most, so doing the extra stand up effort is no big deal. Or maybe a silicone sheet would still allow a good base edge?
Now to load these little blue devils up!
