    16 Gauge Round Ball

What’s the recommended size for a 16 gauge percussion double barrel, using a patch? How thick of a patch?

What exactly is blue striped pillow ticking. I’ve seen a lot of pillows like that, but is that a standard thickness?

I pick up Blue striped and Red Striped pillow ticking by the yard at Wally World in their fabric department.
One is just a little thicker than the other.
I just select the one that fits best for MY rifle and the ball I intend to shoot.
The same rifle , even with the same caliber have slight differences.

I use a 650 with blue tick. It depends on the bore size. 15 under is a good place to start.
You can hear the whack when the ball hits a deer at 25 yards - it will suck the lungs right out the exit hole.

The 16ga bore diameter is .663", so you would need a patch cut from a horse blanket to use a ball 1/10" smaller...….

Lyman made a .648 RB mould at one time I used it with my 16 gauge English fowler. I used .015-.018 patching
