    New Traditions Outfitter G2

I just bought a Traditions Outfitter G2 for a deal that I couldn't pass up. It is chambered in 45-70. Does anyone have experience with this gun? I dont want Ruger No.1 loads but would like 1800fps with a 405 grain hard cast. I like to hunt pretty large game and like long shots. I know I can get the leverevolution 325gr bullets that are quick but I mainly want the 1800fps 405gr for longer range with higher KE

Acknott: I don't own the G2 Outfitter but I do have the Handi rifle that is the same type of rifle.Work your loads up from the starting point of the mid-range loads for modern levers and your shoulder will likely tell you where to stop before the rifle gives out. Gp

1800 fps with a 405 gr bullet should be doable, i shoot a 405 cast gas checked bullet at 2000 fps in a ruger # 1. you will know when it goes off.

Light weight single-shot rifles don't go well with .45-70 loads that are near max. I had a Ruger No 3. That's how I know.

Wouldn't it be grand if CZ made a double rifle in 45-70?

I have always wanted a double 45-70. That would be awesome.

I would almost bet if you take a 405 grain bullet to 1,800 fps you'll have to hire someone to shoot them for you. It wouldn't be my idea of fun, at least.
    Good Luck,
    Rick

I had a Super 16 barrel once. Much more pleasant to shoot as a handgun. As a 5# something or 6# carbine, it beat the snot out of me.

With double rifles they have a range where the two barrels are regulated to meet, if you are going to do long shots try to practice using only one either right or left
