    6.5 Carcano Ammo

I recently came into a handful of 6.5 carcano ammo that seems to be vintage. Not knowing what I have, I'm hoping you can help me out. My plan was just to pull the bullets and use the brass, but they are berdan primed. Below are the head stamps that I have:

    Qty 6 - T.M. B-36
    Qty 1 - BPD 940
    Qty 1 - SMI 928

Any collectable value to them? Not trying to make money, just don't want to experiment with converting them to boxer primers if they are worth more to someone else.

I am not a cartridge collector, but there are some here. Better to visit a forum dedicated to that pursuit. I would think that they would be of value to the right person. As the oldest is 93 years, and the newest 81 years old, I wouldn't consider them to be good prospects for conversion anyway. If you keep an eye on the Swappin' & Sellin' section of this forum you'll see small lots of modern 6.5 Carcano ammo come up for sale every now and then. I think I saw some within just the past couple of days.

Reminds me of my boyhood. A local family had 6 boys and several served during WWII and naturally brought stuff back among which was a M98 Mauser. In their old well house was a well bucket full of 6.5 mm Carcano ammo no doubt mistakenly brought home for the 8mm. Lost track of them over the years but the house and outbuildings are still there as well as several of the younger boys. Often wondered if the well bucket of Carcano ammo was still there./beagle
