    8 lb ingots

First time casting. Purchased some MBC ingots which are 8lbs each. Will these be okay to melt in my Lee 4-20 pot?

Should be fine as long as you don't put in more than 2 at a time.

I take a propane torch to large ingots and help heat and melt them into my pots , puts some melt to the bottom and helps the ingot to melt into the pot better . I am not familiar with MBC ingots , are they pure or do they have other alloy in them?

I would think that MBC stands for Missouri Bullet Company

They should work fine. Only drawback is if you add an ingot to refill the pot while casting, the mass of it will bring down the temperature of the pot for quite a while. Consider pre heating additional ingots to be added on a hot plate or other heat source, before adding.

You have to heat ingots to almost melt temp. to not lower pot way down , my hotplate melted ingots stacked on it but was not melting them in a old small casting pot , it is why I take a torch to them if I am not going to take a short break , all depends on what I am casting and how the session is going .

Will they fit? I can't really tell from the website pics.

I have 10# ingots that are more blocky, and definitely can't get past the valve hardware on my 18-20 pound pots. So storage for source metals only and Lakehouse's 2 to 2 1/2 pounders for the casting alloy.
