Easy river canoeing or tube floating? We prefer places where there aren’t a ton of others, but looking for several spots to visit this summer.

The various places on the Colorado River are hard to beat.

So is the Comal River in New Braunfels.

Bravos River from Possum Kingdom lake to I20 is very nice.

Boulder Creek in downtown Boulder CO. You can join all the locals that tube to work in the summer and get their weekly bath at the same time.

Try tubing the Frio River in Leakey,Texas..that water is super cold in the summer.

The Guadalupe river just north of New Braunfels below the Canyon Lake dam can be hit or miss for population density. It is a good float. If you go north of Canyon Lake on the Guadalupe you can tube float or kayak via an outfitter called Guadalupe River Livery. They drop off and you paddle back. If you have access to kayaks and a pickup vehicle their is a relaxing 12 miles runs along the upper Guadalupe from Nichols Landing to Rebecca Creek crossing (Check out google maps or earth). The Comal in New Braunfels is good in the off season but during the peak season you can walk on the tubes in the water. Make sure you check to see if river access is open due to closures. Also double check the flow rate for the Guadalupe.

If you really want to get away check out the Devils River. It is a multi day kayak trip (Sorry no tubes). It is on my list to do.

In Texas, try the Guadalupe River (New Braunfels to Gruene) and the San Marcos River for canoeing and tubing. For a quieter experience in Colorado, check out the Arkansas River near Salida or the Upper Colorado River near Kremmling.
