My Possibles Bag, Powder Horn & Drinking Horn

    .

I sewed this bag (my first) about 35 years ago, and made the powder horn 2 years ago. (I have 3-4 different self-made horns & bags)

Nicely done! Was the insignia patch added then, or later. What goes in the sling sleeve?

    Thank you !.

I made the patch from the same leather, when I sewed up the bag; but before I sewed it to the flap I stitched the Ruger logo onto the patch, with my initial (P) instead of the Ruger "R".

The strap pouch holds a Remington Outdoorsman single jack folder (below, with my CA Pathfinder) that I use as a patch knife, and for field dressing.

Thought that bird looked familiar. Nice interpretation.

Folder was my first guess, but then I wasn't sure if that would be period-correct, assuming that's what you were going for. Stone was my second guess.

    Did you weave the strap?

Neat. I never made a possibles bag yet. Course I don't do much with muzzleloaders. Might be just right for a light hunting trip for squirrels and such.

Nope - It's woven, but after I saw/liked some woven camera straps, I was able to buy the material with a pattern I wanted.

I just had to determine if the strap was woven with the pattern on both sides (a must) or only on one side, the obverse being just threads (a no-no).

I do the same thing for making rifle carrying straps, so they can be rolled up/pocketed out of the way while actually hunting.

I like your work on both. They sure look fine.
