    My primitive archery bear

This is my first "primitive" bear kill. He weighed just under 260#. I used an osage bow with deer sinew backing and a ayer of copperhead skin. The arrow was a Hard maple with a hand knapped obsidian point. It took me 3 days to located the arrow, had to take a rake up and scour the ground. Just under 22 yards for the shot. He was slighlty quartering toward me. Recovery was about 30 yards.

Congratulations!!!! I too hunt with traditional longbows and primitive longbows . I started hunting exclusively with traditional and primitive bows after i left Oklahoma 7 yrs ago and moved to Alaska. My first animal to take with a traditional bow was a black bear spot and stalk at7yrds . Although i was using a blackwidow , wood arrows and tuffheads . I've took one other spot and stalk black bear since then at 10yrds with the same set up .
This year i am hunting with my Osage 62# selfbow that i made , bamboo arrows and maybe stone points that i knapped ? Not for sure yet , may use my single bevels because big coastal brown bears are also on the Menu and i don't usually have anyone to back me up !! Lol!
Congratulations on the primitive bow harvest, everyone is earned and deserved !! I've talked myself into carry a rifle hunting a couple times , because we could've used the meat ..... but its hard to enjoy when I'm missing a longbow in my hand lol
