A friend has done a lot of mild cast load development with a new Henry steel 41 mag. Experimentation has found some loads that will shoot under 3" at 100 yards. Many commercial cast bullet sellers offer a bevel base 215 swc bullet ...these did poorly in his rifle. Chey-cast makes a 225 gr rnfp type that has been pretty good. 8.0 gr of win231 has worked well. I fired some full strength factory ammo out of the rifle and that stuff really barks! I think it was well over 1700 fps across the chronograph. Look out, whitetails.

What are you using for powder and bullets?

Have found that H110/W296 can't be beat in the longer barrels. AAC1680 would probably work well also.

Still have not been able to get one of the 16.5" guns yet...

I've been loading 10 grains be86 under RCBS 41-210, will probably work it up another .5 grains

I’m going to sell mine, under whelmed with the accuracy, someone else can enjoy it more than me. I spent some time with it and satisfied my curiosity enough to know why it’s the only Henry I’ve owned and will not be another their just not for me.
