    Savage MKII Apache Chassis System

I hated the factory stock on my otherwise favorite plinking rifle. The comb was awful and I couldn't see through my scope properly. So, I set out to fix that and got to looking at chassis systems, but found that the prices come close or exceed the price of the rifle. So, I put my CAD skills to the test and designed this chassis system. The chassis is fully 3D printable and prints in 3 parts (4 with the optional rail delete). The forend slots into place with a dovetail and can then be permanently fused to the chassis body with Weldon #3. The rail section also dovetails into place and can be secured with 2 Allen screws. The print takes around 2 days to print and costs less than $10 in filiment. For it being a 3d print, it's remarkably strong, even when not printed solid. At 3 walls and 35% infill (meaning it's only 35% solid) I can lay the chassis down on it's side and stand on it. The files for this will be on sale after I finalize the design for around $12. Let me know what y'all think!

Wow, I would kill for something like that for a 700. I have looked at the chassis as well and am not will to lay out that much cash when my old 40x stocks work well.

I would if I had one I could take dimensions off of and test fit!

My youngest demonstrating how compact it is fully collapsed. One of my main reasons for doing this was so my kids could comfortably shoot it. Obviously it's safe and clear here.

I have been working on this design for a little bit now. I'm calling this evolution of my Apache chassis the M.C.S. (Modular Chassis System). This system utilizes an AR15 stock, grip, and now handguards.

The rough prototype has some adjustments needed, mainly the centering of the barrel in the barrel nut, but that wasn't too hard of an issue to fix and I have the next prototype going now. The threads for the barrel nut are split, with the top being secured with 4 cap head screws. Here there is a gap as the top thread section is hitting the barrel. This print was done with polysmooth and the threads are strong enough to pick the rifle up by end of the handguard, though I would seriously reccomend printing in a stronger material than PLA. I've got some Nylon X and PCTG (not PETG) coming to test out. The Nylon X seems to be incredibly strong, as does the PCTG.

Also, as you can see here, the rail will be pretty high. I'm printing out a scope mount (we will see if the gun remains accurate) that will make it a mono type rail. The sight picture will be considerably higher, so I plan on designing a fully adjustable stock for this little system. Additionally, a smooth handguard can be used with M-Lok sections if you wish to retain your preferred mount, which I will likely be doing myself.

Just got my nylon x today (nylon infused with carbon fiber) but I won't use it until I get the design dialed in as it's $58 a spool lol. I would like to find a way to get these cut on a CNC and market them, but I don't know how to go about doing that. I think I'm on to something with this design though. I will be making a full sized center fire version eventually as well.

Putting final touches on the adjustable stock I designed to go along with the chassis. It uses 2 AR15 bolt release plungers and springs as detents for the adjustment wheels. Fully collapsed it's the same size as a collapsed MOE stock, about the same size fully adjusted out as well. The cheek piece has 2 set screws that can be loosened so the cheek piece can be moved forward or back so it fits the shooter better. The cheek piece here was printed in another material that I have bad settings for, which is why it looks like crap. This will be fitted with a slim grind to fit pad.

Does the cheek piece have an adjustment for the elevation of that part also?
