OK, what did I come home with.

Alright, I was at an estate auction and I ended up with a cardboard box. Full of bullet lube.

It's the 1" by 4" solid sticks from GAR. Was GAR quality lube? I haven't seen much reference to them in the time I have been casting.

Some of it is Pro Lube
Some is Rifle Lube
Some is Half and Half
Some is unmarked.

Does anybody know if GAR used different colors for the different lubes? or a way to tell what the unmarked ones are?

I looked online, all I found was the info from Cast Bullets Assoc.

GAR Bullet Lubes (available from GAR, 590 McBride Ave., West Paterson, NJ
07424);
• Half & Half Lubricant-50% Alox 2138F and 50% natural beeswax.
Apparently, according to limited tests; it was better than other Alox lubes (FS 42
27). Tests by Mike Venturino indicate that the Gar Fola lube does enable higher
velocities, but his conclusions about accuracy were unclear (HL 113 63).
• Pro Lube — Described as a hard lube for pistol or reduced rifle loads
(ingredients not specified). Heating is required if the lube is to flow through a
lubrisizer.
• Rifle Lube — Described as a lubricant suitable for rifle or magnum pistol
loads (ingredients not specified). Heating is required if the lube is to flow through
a lubrisizer.

GAR was very good. I used their 50/50 lube in stick form for some years. I bought a lot of their 50/50 lube very cheap in cakes, when they were going out of business. I have no experience with their other lubes, but I would presume their harder lubes also have a higher melting temperature, and should be easy to sort out.

My Executor will probably have a bunch of GAR cakes in my stash to get rid of when I move on to the Eternal Rifle Association.

If they are unmarked, it will perhaps require sorting by color. Usually the 50/50 will all feel about the same, smell the same at the same temperature. The Pro-Lube and rifle lube might be a different color and probably feel and smell a bit different when all lube sticks are the same temperature. You mentioned that they would be harder and may require a heater. I only bought the 50/50 from Gar for Reloading.

I thought about trying to call the # I had, but thought they were out of business, since nothing really showed up online about them.

Yeah, that Cast bullet Assoc, listing of lubes is what I found as well.

I guess I will have to open the unmarked ones and compare it to the marked ones. I'll check colors first. hopefully that will show a difference.
