Combining powder into single jar for storage

Suppose that one had several lb jars of powder that came in jars capable of holding more than one pound.

For the sake of argument lets say that these are the same powder, same lot number, and purchased at the same time.

Is there a good reason to not combine the powder into fewer jars for the sake of storage?

I do it all the time. Why have a bit of powder sitting in a jug. Dump it in the new one and shake it up.

If anything, less air in the jug is a good thing.

Ok, I’ve done that several times mixing like powder together. Didn’t seem to make any difference in chronograph readings either.

I have done that with powder of the same lot and type one time I sent back to IMR a can of 4895 that I was finding some very large grains of powder 3 to 4 times the size of the standard grains they sent me back eight cans of 4895 brand new cans I combined those.

I do it all the time. Not suggesting you do it, but I have for 30 years with no issues.

got to agree. If its sealed leave it sealed. If there not sealed go for it.

I wouldn't unseal new powder either, but when I get to the last of a container and there isn't but a little left in it, I will add that to the new can or bottle of the same stuf when I break open a new one and shake it up just so it isn't wasted.
