This is a link to an amazing source of 22 box information. Sadly, it is no longer active. The size of the files is very large and can take some time to load... well worth copying & saving to your own computer. https://web.archive.org/web/20190610.../22box-id.com/

It depends. If you go to a gun show and there is a collector of old ammo displaying his/her stuff, it will likely be pretty expensive but a lot of gun shows have tables with a plethora of junk/treasure and that's where I find my best deals.Attachment 293264Attachment 293265Attachment 293266 I bought these 2 yesterday at a show in Hoover, Al for $20. You have to constantly be on the lookout. Some people think there's is worth a fortune when there is less than a full box or boxes in rough shape but there are deals id you look hard. These 2 boxes were partially covered by a gun box on his table but I could see 1 end of a "dog bone" sticking out from underneath.

What better thread than this one to display one one and only box of old .22's. Are these unusual?Click image for larger version.

Yes, those are unusual. 22 Short hollow points aren't found very often.
