    Health check-up...

    Hi...
I had my four month check up at the oncologist yesterday as a follow-up to my last bout with cancer in 2016.

Blood work continues to look good with no apparent recurrence. I continue to be in what the oncologist terms total remission from Burkitt's-like lymphoma.

Even better news is that my checkups are extended now to six months.

Not too bad for someone who was declared terminal in 2016. Faith and prayer and good doctors saved me for the third time.

First time was in 1977 with what was diagnosed at the time as non Hodgkin's lymphoma. My current doctor seems to think it was Hodgkin's. No matter...I survived, that's the important thing.
Second time was in 2012, when I was declared terminal by two separate doctors with salivary gland cancer that had spread into the lymph nodes in my neck. A third doctor, a specialist in head and neck surgery, had developed a robotically controlled surgical technique which together with some serious radiation therapy saved my life.

So while I have endured a lot of surgeries, radiation treatments and very nasty chemotherapy regimens, I am still hanging on and for the shape I am in, I'm not in too bad of shape...all things considered.

I too am a cancer survivor and hate the monthly check ups but it's nice to be alive and helping others with cancer. Keep up the good work! When you've had cancer Corona Virus is nothing!

Congratulations. Nice to hear a success story. I have heard too many bad stories around here. Hope all stays positive with. I have been free of cancer--prostate back in 2014, treated in 2015--radiation. Its a blessing, all I can say.

The Big C is a bad place to visit, and no fun to live there. Bone cancer survivor since 2001; so glad you're still kicking, sir! Great news.

Congratulations, OP! Had my brush with the crap in 2012 (Kidney Cancer) but it was caught fairly early. Didn't have to undergo Chemo/Radiation but did lose the Kidney. Have so far remained free of recurrence.

I'm almost 8 years out from a T3c prostate cancer.

I had open surgery, they removed the prostate, seminal vesicles, 19 lymph nodes and the base of my bladder.

I had 35 radiation treatments to clean up the area in case they missed a small metastases.

My PSA has been undetectable since the surgery.

I'll deal with the side effects for as long as I live.

But at least I'm alive. I watched this same type of prostate cancer kill my dad. We found mine just after I had turned 52.

    I'm glad to be alive!

I'm glad for you! Keep thanking God for every day. A guy I've known for nearly 40 years fell off a ladder at work yesterday and died. We never know when our number is going to be called in!

Congrats to all of you that have been through that fight. 5 years ago Christmas i found out I had Esophageal cancer. Caught it early enough, one layer from lymph nodes. I Had an Esophajectomy and there was no need for treatments. Very blessed. My heart goes out to all of you that went through treatments as I watched those treatments kill my Mother with her lymphoma.
All this reminds me its probably time for another pet scan.
God has been good to us.
