    Magazine shortening

I bought a Ruger American in 6.5 Grendel, and was thinking about shortening the 10 round mag t a true 5 round length. Anyone do this in their tinkering projects of the past?

Watching with interest. I wanted one but detest the mag hanging out the bottom, in the blasted way.

I have done Ar15 mags ( in NRA High power the mag cant extend below the stock or receiver. Its viewed as a palm rest) Its not hard to do but takes some special cutting and bending on the ars you need to cut front and back to proper length then the sides for the fold overs to hold the slide in base. Since these were used in slow fire only a single load follower was used

    .

This fella (Roy) shortens the CZ-527 magazine to a flush fit: http://rvbprecision.com/shooting/cz-...onversion.html

You might contact him to determine if he would tackle your Ruger, but if your rifle's magazine is plastic, it's a non-starter.

Alternatively, since IIRC your Ruger accepts AR magazines, ASC makes a 5-round mag:
