They used to be pretty popular years ago for making cornbread. Redhawk0's advice for finding one is probably the best. Garage sales, used stuff stores. Heavy cast iron.

I found a 24 muffin pan that I use for coww. I use what seems to be an big old steel ice tray for pure. It makes a perfect 1 lb cube which is pretty handy. The thrift store had 2 of them but for some, odd reason, I only bought 1.

I have corn cob 'pure lead' from that muffin mould....but only because I bought it in that form.
Would I ever consider using a corn cob muffin mould for anything at all?
    NO.
It doesn't fill the pot well...too much wasted space, you have to keep feeding the pot as it melts down.
It doesn't stack well in your lead stash, you have to keep it in a box or some other container.
Yah...it looks cool but looking cool doesn't cut it.

I have 12-15 of the 1lb ingot molds from Saeco, RCBS, Ohaus, Lyman and some blank ones from when RCBS 1st bought out Lachmiller.
A Lodge scone pan is great for range lead, 7? triangle 2-2 1/2lb ingots.
The Lee 1/2lb ingot are great for monotype.

Once you use cast iron for lead, you can never use it for food.

Geez, My Mom was really ticked off when I "stole" her cast iron cupcake pan to pour ingots from WW's and other scrap.

Mini loaf pans for range-scrap bulk ingots (throws ingots around 10 lbs or so), and then a combo of corncob cast-iron, Lee and CastBoolits molds for alloy ready to go in the pot.

    Nice.

I did the angle iron mold thing myself. Love it.

The trouble with the angle iron moulds is you can only stack them in a triangle shape unless you use a crate/box of some sort.

Like AndyC, bulk lead storage in 10# mini bread loaf pan ingots, final alloy ready for the casting pot in 2# Cast Boolits ingots. Bulk pewter is in CB ingots, with pewter "coins" done in mini cupcake tins.

Yeah, everything bit of casting metal I use gets melted three times, but this way I get to batch and analyze it as well as dramatically reduce the storage space I need.

Started with Wilton Bakeware all-aluminum Mini-Muffin Pans , small round ingots , small enough to fit into Lee Melting pots . Later I discovered Wilton's all-aluminum Mini-Loaf Pans , small flat rectangles.
the small rectangles stack better but I still like the small round Mini-Muffin size too .
Wilton makes several lines of bakeware , steel , coated steel and all aluminum ... you want the all aluminum ... the steel stuff will rust and the coated stuff sheds it coating over time .
Check them out ...they have all sizes and shapes . www.wilton.com

I just use a mini muffin pan I borrowed from the wife. She calmed down when I bought her a new one. It makes ingots that average a half pound and fit my Lee and Lyman pots nicely. I just keep them in 5 gallon buckets.

Over the years I’ve used corn cob pans, mini corn cob pans, muffin tins, mini muffin tins and the like. But in my old age I’ve standardized on Lyman bricks for lead, the 1/2 pound Lee cavities for solder and Potter molds for pewter.

I don’t stack ingots… they get dumped back into the same buckets the raw ore came from.
