Have A Odd Ingot Mold? What do You Use?

I still have the standard Lee ingot mold I started out with, but it rarely gets used. A couple years ago I found a nice heavy duty Twinkie brand cupcake/brownie mold at a yard sale. It makes perfect 2- 2.5 lb oblong Twinkie shaped ingots. 8 at a time, so I can usually empty my 30-40 lb smelting pot in two pours. I've seen some very odd, and ingenious methods. I'm curious what you guys are using.

I use cast iron and aluminum candy molds for my Pewter (heart shaped), I also have aluminum muffin and mini muffin tins for component alloys like COWW, Lino, Range Lead. Then for final blended alloys I use cast iron corn pattern molds. They are long and narrow to fit in my Lee pot. Sorry no pic of the corn pattern ingots.

Hadd a guy weld up some 1 1/2" angle iron molds. 3 pieces 7" long along side each other with the same material welded across each end. Weighs just over 2 lbs depending on how well I have leveled them and fill them. I use them for final alloy blends, still using muffin tins for bulk range scrap storage. One of these days I'm going to pick up 3" channel to build like the angle molds for bulk storage.

I have 14 ingot molds from Lyman, RCBS, SAECO, and Ohaus.

Each does 4 one pound ingots, So I can empty my pot in two pours.

Then I turn off the furnace and when coolish add more alloy for the
    next pour.

Conditor22 Those are some sweet bars! You could really stack those up neatly. Probably what, 5 lb each?

ID:	265975 I have used different muffin and angle iron molds in the past. I'm using ones that cast ingots with Redneck Gold on them for now. They will probably be banned by the Commies or Hate groups before long so I will use them till they take em. Hee Hee!

"somehow?" I fear that you are suffering from an addiction. There used to be a contributor who claimed; "melting stuff is fun."

I run 8 of the Lyman style molds. I can usually cycle them about 4 times before they get hot enough to cause me to wait on them to cool. I usually need a short break by then.

All my ingots fit the width of an SFRB 8 triangle ingots fills an almost empty 4-20. I forget how many rectangular ingots fill the pot

They also show up regularly at Salvation Army, Savers, and other second hand donation places. That's where I got mine.

I use The Lyman, Cast Boolits, Redneck Gold molds, & cupcake pans for bulk lead storage, and the miniature cupcake pans for pewter. Of them all, I particularly like the CB and RNG molds because the shape fits easily into my Lee pots.

I used to use several 6, 7 or 8 space cast iron corn cob tray. I had two vise grip pliers I'd attach to the ends, and not fill them all the way. By the time my furnace melted the refilled pot the tray cooled enough to take the pliers off and refill it. Later on I bought Lyman molds... I wonder where those corn trays wen to?
