Threading Savage barrel for Remington action?

Probably a stupid question for you real gunsmiths, but wondering if you can just cut Remington threads over Savage threads and have things work out OK as far as the barrel being secure in the action. I know I can just cut off the back of the barrel where the Savage threads are and hope the barrel diameter in front of the old threads is large enough to cut the threads for the Remington action to have a Rem-age setup.

Trying to keep the barrel as long as I can. Want to make a 22 BR on a Rem action and my only 1-9" twist barrel is a small shank Savage barrel.

I believe a small shank Savage barrel would be to small in diameter to retread for a Remington action.

depending on sizes possibly thread a sleeve onto the savage barrel and then turn and thread it for rem action if the savage small shank is capable of the pressure. Im assuming you want to use the savage barrel nut. This would require a sleeve thickness to contain both threads and .050 -.075 on a side between threads.Install the sleeve in the barrel with lovktite and tight to shoulder so it cant move or come loose. You also want a very close fit here almost an interference fit.

1.052 for the Savage, 1.062 for the Remington. Have a Rem-age nut.

Not enough there. I would cut the stub and start over.

The savage is 1.055" x 20 threads per inch. Except for WSM, RUM, and RSAUM calibers which are 1.120″ x 20tpi.

Rem 700 is 1.062 x 16 threads per inch. Just looked all of that up to load it into memory, some sticks . Done rem aplenty but no Savage yet.

    Is the best solution.
