Lyman Ideal 4 Cav Mold Handles

I couldn't quite find a solid yes or no answers so I thought I'd ask the professionals.

For the older Lyman Ideal 4 cavity mold that have the pivot point in front and start opening at the rear of the blocks/closer to the operator, do the newer Lyman 4 cavity molds that operate more with a scissor action mate up with these or do I need to find the older style handles?

The later style handles should fit your early mold too. You might want to call Lyman to verify this, but their catalog describe the handles as simply being for 4 cavity molds. It would make no sense for them to do otherwise of course.

" that have the pivot point in front and start opening at the rear of the blocks/closer to the operator, "
these are known as Nutcracker handles.
They are 100% interchangeable with the "scissor action" handles.

Some years back, I bought a couple older Lyman molds that came with the Nutcrackers. I really disliked them, so I swapped them out with the scissor type. I even modified a set of Lee Handles to work with Lyman 4 cav molds. I think the Nutcrackers work much better when you are Ladle pouring, instead of using a bottom pour pot.

I ladle pour and have seen no need to get away from the nutcrackers, but I am an old guy.

I also prefer the scissor handles, Lyman and Modified Lee, as I use a bottom pour Mag20.

I use both, but if they were cheaper, I'd use nothing but the scissors style handles.
