Clan carburetors everyday for chainsaws and small engines. All I ever use is straight Simple Green works great. Follow with a spray of carb cleaner blow dry. Clean in sonic cleaner.
When I bought my late FIL's revolvers, the S&W 19's cylinder couldn't be opened. He had lubed it with WD-40. My gunsmith removed the grips and put the M19 into his ultrasonic cleaner with Simple Green and left it in there at least overnight. It worked, but needed to be blow-dried and re-lubed with Remoil.
