    Original Rem Rolling Block 7mm

I saw one for sale today in LGS. Pretty nice condition with what appeared to be a good bore. They wanted $800. I passed eveen though I have been coveting one for some time. What would you do?

I remember passing on one for $49 but that was 40 years ago. At $800 that's a bit steep unless you plan on shooting in one military competitions. I gave one to my brother and he gave it back to me last year, was thinking of making it to 45-70 but I don't need another one. I have one in the shop now that's going to be a 6.5x55.

It’s all about condition. I have seen really great condition no. 5’s go for over $ 1200 but that’s for a gun in 95 % condition missing nothing and a perfect bore. From there a nice condition like 75 % with no missing cleaning rod, a good shootable bore, a good amount of the case colors would be worth about half of that.
Most of them I see have pretty beat up wood, missing the rod, maybe a trace of colors and other small problems and that puts them in the 350 -450 range at least in my area.

At $800 it better be minty for a 7mm Rolling Block. Just not that collectible or desirable to get anything near that.

Yeah - $800 or more is the going price. I was looking at prices last year, thinking of selling mine; then I take it out and put a couple of rounds through it, and fall in love with it all over again.

I have a saddle-ring carbine (Uruguay contract) that I picked up in an auction maybe 10 years ago, really good shape and all.
