CVA and Traditions single shot barrel removal

Do any members here have experience in removing the barrel pin on CVA and Traditions singles? The pins are expanded on both ends apparently during barrel installation at manufacture, presumably to prevent owners from installing unfitted barrels. This complicates routine cleaning. More recent CVA Scout V2 rifles have a quick take down feature that is a solution to a problem that never needed to exist.

    Update 9/26

Did an additional on line search and found that the "pin" is called a thimble and the muzzle loader parts description calls for two of them. I will have to disassemble one of my CF rifles to see how the "thimbles" are retained. More to come.
