This MP 359-220 is proving to be purpose built for the Legend. You seat it to designs a d its 2.250!!

Aa1680 is moving it to 2000 for me. Altho accuracy is only acceptable. Adjusting things should improve that.

I have a bear creek upper as well... I've been shooting the accurate 35-125YG and the accurate 36-180 LG. I'm shooting both on top of W296 and AA11FS. Both have great (better than me) accuracy.
The 125 zips along around 2650 fps and the 180 is going right around 2175.

    Both work great.

Funny thing. I haven't shot any factory ammo in it. None of my local shops have even heard of 350 legend...

    Haha

I see the advertisements and right off the bat wanted to try the 160g Bonded offering. The sub load was intriguing, But Im loading my own! But like you only ammo I have ever seen in person was the 145g FMJ.

Last fall Midway had a small lott of 165 FTX and I was lucky to get some!! Then just about Christmas I saw more and grabbed two more for gifts. These shoot really well For me with 296 @ 2250 fps!! SINGLE HOLE @50 and under 1" if Im careful at 100!

A friend used two to hit the 260yard gong last week. He said he held ON just top half!

Might as well see if paper patch works in an AR.. just because I can

Picked up a BCA upper a few weeks ago just to give the round a try. Lots of factory ammo available here (IA) so have tried WW, Hornady, Federal etc- from 145-180gr. Everything shoots well with no feeding/extracting issues, will prob try it on whitetails this year.

Am seriously considering building a bolt gun in this round, think it would be a good wood stalker and fun to work with some cast boolits in- maybe even try powder coating and subsonics.

Paper Patch -- I'll be fascinated to hear how those jackets handle the dragons teeth in the barrel extension.

Good news/bad news. The good news is I got some to shoot. Bad news is most of what I had loaded were from a mold I made, and I had them seated a little long. Those loads caught the edge of the paper going into the chamber, and once wrinkled would no longer seat all the way into the chamber. On the good side though, the Lee 358-200 sized down to 350 all cycled and shot well. I’ll do a little more testing in the next week just to finish seeing this through, but there’s too much effort involved with paper patching when my only reason for doing it is “just because”

First picture are the loads that caught going into the chamber. Second pic is of the Lee boolits. You can see there is less paper past the case mouth

I’ve been PP’ing my Maxi for years, and typically use a 30:1. My challenge has been the difference between the maxi being a single shot vs my legend being the AR platform

Those lee boolits I used yesterday were cast from 20:1, thinking I might need a slightly harder boolit nose. I’ll try more of these Lee’s and my boolits from my own mold and see what happens once I make some adjustments. No reason I can’t get this to work now that I have a starting place

You want the extra base thickness to ensure pressure containment at the chamber entrance/chamfer. yes! 223 case head is NOT supported in AR15. This is BO too strong a load.

And that is why you do not use Starline brass. The web is lower on it than Winchester brass.

Finally got back out. As to the paper patching, I seated the boolits a hair deeper so the leading edge of the paper didn’t catch as a few did the last outing. Using the Lee 358-200 cast of 20:1 and sized to .350 before patching using regular printer paper. Load was 24.5gr 4227, Starline brass, and a cci450. First shot was the high one. I typically see the first shot out when switching loads. Next 5 went to about .85” group. This was at 50yds in an AR

Almost forgot, velocities we’re hovering right at 2000fps on this load

Should we call this a 3 x 2 load: 2000 fps, 200 gr, < 2 MOA. Sounds pretty good to me.

Hey! I'm considering an AR in 350 Legend for shooting pigs. I already have an LBT WFN 180 GC bullet mold that worked great in my Marlin 1894C lever action. No feeding problems at all. I was just wondering if this bullet would feed reliably from the AR magazine. 20 or 30 of those on tap would be the bees knees! I can size to .358, or .357. Don't know exactly what bore diameter is for this cartridge as some threads say it's .355? Anyhow, sorry if this has already been addressed but I didn't have time to read the whole thread.

That wide nose/metplat is going to be a "bit" dicey feeding through AR feed ramps

Thanks for the reply! Meaning I guess, that I will have to try it and see. I did get to read the whole thread, lots of interesting information here!

I travel to South Carolina to hunt pigs with a buddy, and I'm looking to upgrade from my .30-30 Marlin. A big group of pigs would be more appropriately handled with an AR 15, so I'm looking at calibers that are cast bullet friendly. Originally I looked at the 6.5 Grendel, then the 25/45 Sharps. I like the Sharps because I can make brass easily from .223, but I would need a new mold, sizers, gas checks, etc. With the 350 Legend I already have all that, plus a 35 caliber bullet will give better smackdown. Some of the hogs in the area run to 300 lbs+. I don't need long range, just accuracy and reliability.

I have mentioned it before. All of my Legends seem to shoot my LEE 190 RD bullet very well. I have a few friends who also enjoy this bullet in there Legends.

Feeding has not been a issue at all. (Its a WFN style bullet)

    LEE 190 RD
Can you give us link to that bullet mould?
(I can't seem to find in in Lee references)
