I'm not a big fan of saw horses for anything heavy. I'll stack some cinder blocks for legs instead. Assuming that you want a table top at around 30 inches or so in height, it takes 8 cinder blocks on each side to make end pedestals / legs. If it still bows in the middle with all your weight, add a single stack of 4 blocks in the middle. At Home Depot and Lowes, cinder blocks are usually only around $1.25 each. If you want to get fancy and set yourself something up in the backyard of a more permanent basis, pour a couple of concrete pads with rebar sticking up where the cinder block legs are supposed to be and when you put the blocks over the rebar, fill them with more rebar and concrete.

Anything worth engineering is worth OVER-engineering...
Some people scare easier than others. That system has worked fine for a long time and it has had more weight than that on it. I see no reason to change it.

I do appreciate your concern for my safety though!

Well, if you feel comfortable with it, ok... Personally, I would add a little more support to it considering you have hot molten metal on a piece of board that definitely looks like it is getting some deflection in it.

    Stay safe...

That's probably one of the most professional setups I've seen in quite a while. Very efficient. The foundry ladle with the sliding handle is great, although I know they're expensive (but worth it).

How much do you have tied up in ingot molds though??

Edit: Your post on the ladles beat mine....they're not as expensive as I thought! By the way, the respirator is a good idea too.

About 1/10 what it would cost for "Back To School" accessories for a child, which I have none. Oh and thanks for the compliment.
Actually I have taken a compilation of the imformation I have learned here and ran with it.
I also put myself in the shoes of the OSHA personel that would come by many a facility and read us the riot act and explain why he was sighting us.

This setup should work fine for my 45-70, 500 S&W's and 45 Long/ACP bullets.
I seen what you are looking for on ebay. It was a really big pot used by a fellow that was making fishing sinkers and lures.

Pretty nice Duke, you have exactly the same ladle, cast iron dutch oven and burner for smelting as me. Only real difference is I use the RCBS 10 pound cast iron pots for pouring 5 pound ingots.

A word of caution to anyone that wants to pour these 5 pound ingots with this RCBS pot, filled full it will make 10 pound ingots BUT 10 pounders WILL NOT fit back into the RCBS 22 pound lead pot. ONLY fill it half full and make 5 pound ingots. These ingots are flat top & bottom and stack very well.

What a great thread, I'm glad I came across it. You definitely gave me some ideas for this summer when I setup my casting operation.

OK, this thread turned up when I did a quoted search on "range scrap".

I feel like a total bubba when I see Duke's pro setup.
