    Favorite Pistol Lube?

What is everyone liking for caliber like 38 special, 45 ACP, etc for lube?

Lar45's 50/50 has worked best for me in 357 and 44 mid range loads. (I use his black powder lube for my 50/90 SHILOH SHARPS.)

I used to get 50/50 from GAR, in Patterson NJ, but I think they are long out of business...they were good folks and had a good inventory of LYMAN and SAECO moulds, etc. at deep discount prices...an excellent flux also.

Long time ago, I got a lithium blend lube from CHOATE MACHINE AND TOOL in Arkansas...that was really good lube too.

Most of my pistol boolits are plain base. I use a STAR lubri-sizer and prefer not to use lubes that require a heater.

The RANCH DOG moulds for MARLIN lever action rifles are designed for LLA and gas checks. Using Lars' XLOX, per the RD double dip method, the boolits actually remove residual lead from my 44 VAQUEROS/BISLEY VAQUEROS with 5-to-10 rounds fired at the end of a range session. (I'm waiting for the TLC 359 190 mould for my 357s, but may break down and buy a LEE tumble lube mould before then.)

There have been a lot of good products introduced since I got started reloading and casting back in the 60s...and a lot more suppliers with competitive prices.

For low pressure (such as .45 Automatic) I like either Lyman Moly or Alox. For higher pressure rounds (such as .357 Magnum) I go with Orange Magic (and it smells great).

Any of Glen Larsens White Label lubes, I'm currently using his 50/50 in my 455" Webley boolits.

I make my own for the most part but used to use alot of lbt blue soft and javalina (5050) If i had to buy lube right now for handgun use, id probably go with lars 5050 lube as its much cheaper then javalina and is the same thing.

I have 2 lubes down here in Arequipa.... lee Tumble ALOX and my home brew of 50-50 bees wax and axle grease. I tumble my pistol everyday plinkers (38 special, 41 Colt Heel) and grease my 357 mag and 44-40 as these get pushed fast. My 12 bore Round ball sit in plastic shot wads.

    I normaly run my 50 / 50 or before I made my own I used Glen's Whitelable

Right now for low pressure loads I am using up a homebrew lube with a toilet seal wax / Alox and a little candle color to tell me what I am using

Sticky stuff , but it works great at pistol velositys

I currently use a combination of Lyman Ideal and Alox lubes. Best pistol lube yet. I used to use Orange Magic, and it smoked a lot less, but it just didn't seal like the softer stuff.

I'm also working a batch of homemade stuff, after being inspired by a thread from yesterday.

1 part lithium grease, 3 parts bees wax, carnuaba wax to firm up as needed, easy and cheep to make and will work in darn near any smokless load rifle or pistol that I can come up with/ summer or winter.
Melt it slow at a low heat(crock pot) and mix the he77 out of it. -OUTSIDE, DO NOT HEAT MUCH OVER ABOUT 300F or it will be on fire.

I use nothing but felix lube in everything i shoot. Never have leading issues and can see no reason to change. When i first came on this site, all you regulars was crowing about felix lube, and i had to jump on the same wagon. How come its not being used now?

I'm probably going to end up using something like Felix Lube. It'll just take awhile before I burn up all the other stuff I have.

'Cause Lar45's lube is cheap and already made up. No muss, no fuss....

I posted in your other thread too but thought I would put some pictures here to.

Bullets I have lubed with this lube have worked well up into the 1800fps range from a 44mag Handi-Rifle. My first bunch used beeswax, these have paraffin instead. I am going to try it to see how it works. If it works anywhere near as good I'm going to switch. Reason being paraffin is much cheaper than beeswax. I can get 10lbs locally for right @ $10 and I still have 3 unopened quarts of White Label Liquid Xlox. I should be able to ride out an anti-gun administration if need be!

Felix lube is great stuff. Lar's stuff is also great. Felix lube is for someone who likes to do it all himself, and Lars is for those who like results without the labor and time.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

Right now I'm still using up a supply of 50/50 GAR and palyign with mule snot (LLA). When my supply gets down I'm trying LARs stuff and some Bullshop lube. Someday I hope to make up some Felix lube.
