I remember as a kid on the farm, the hogs would get out from time to time.
When we were trying to get them back in, they never could find the hole they got out from.
They would run back and forth right past the hole.
When my dad broke a large stick across their back it was like magic, they immediately remembered the hole and ran to it back into their area.

I really could care less about how old a post is, it sure as hell ain't older than me and if I feel like posting to it I will.

If anyone is interested, there’s still a few feral hogs down here needing attention. The problem is they are educated now and use night vision to determine whether a location is safe to browse. I threw several buckets of acorns out where I am allowed to set up a target. The hogs didn’t act interested for several days until one night when they got every one of them. I’m convinced they wander in a loop and mostly at nite. Hard to say “yep, I’ve got hogs” because they wander around!
