not trying to be rude or mean but What kind of bullets are you using? At 50m the group should be tighter for a McGowen.
This is what it will do with Sierra 300 gr HP at 100 yrds this is just with starting load development and getting the scope dialed in, it did almost as well with the Lee 405 HB just a lower poi. It would be better If I was taking my time and trying for grouping.Click image for larger version.

A Little more load development. I think I may have found the load, just needs a little more fine tuning. 100 yd 3 rounds

The vault lock is the design of the rifle action, the 2 is the second design.
It is a very strong action and very cool looking to boot!

Very nice rifle build btw. It is a gorgeous piece of machinery.

    Frank De Haas design.
Fantastic. I have 2 Chicopees that De Haas designed in process and want to build a vault lock as well. Maybe this will spur me on...maybe.

Is that a Leatherwood Malcom scope? It sets that gorgeous rifle off nicely. Good shooting too.
    Can I borrow it?

The design came from a Frank De Haas book, I took the design and modified it quite a bit inside.

That is a stunning looking rifle ! Great craftsmanship. I planned on making a version of the Chicopee CF rifle but have bought so many project guns to work on that I may never get to it ?
    Your work is beautiful !
