    What's a good boolit for .357 Trapper?

    I have a Rossi 92 .357 16", and a 94AE Ranger Compact .357 16". What's a good all-around bullet for these carbines?

I hope there is an answer, but if there ain't then tell me that.

I got in on the 311041 6c mold group buy partly due to the talk that it was the "premiere" .30-30 bullet. I'm just hoping there is something similar for the .357 for carbines?

Hoser, you're a few months late on the group buy C358-180-FP. RTL, mine weighs 190 grs. Goes 1817 fps w/Varget in my 20" Rossi 357. 'Course, you know all that from my braggin' on the leverguns forum. There's talk here of another group buy.

    Saeco 180 gr RNFP...

No gas check, but I have no problems with it up to 1650 in my Rossi 92's. With FFg black and the wide deep grease groove in this bullet it is ideal, and it does not give excessive recoil in my Lightning 38 revolver. I don't remember when I bought this mould, but it cost me $35.00 and I thought that was a fortune!

Lee C358-158-SWC Hollow Point. Accurate on paper and works well on small/med game. They stopped making this one, but a person should be able to scare one up with a little patience. They still make the nonHP GC version (same number). I haven't tried their 358-150-SWC HP as I like gas checks, but they're not expensive and worth a shot. I don't know how "all around" you're looking for, and I would go up to 180 if there were silhouettes or big deer involved.

The 160 grainer Lyman 358156,GC. This boolit will tolerate 2400 fps with ease and with great accuracy. I have the GC version of the Saeco 180 RNFP which also performs well with this speed. I use these two boolits often in the 35 rem. ... felix

    Saeco #354 180gr. GC

What Felix said - I have the Rossi .357 Mag trapper, and use the SAECO #354 180 gr. flat point gas check with 16.5 gr. of H110 and a small rifle primer. It is quite accurate and powerful. Midwayusa.com has the moulds in two & four cavity. You will be happy with it.

Lee C358-158-swc, I have done 2600fps with this in my .35 Whelen and while it shot 1 1/4" at 50 yds, it would surely do bad things to a pig at 100yds.
    I got 3/4" 50 yds groups at 2000fps.

    Good All-Around .357 Boolit

I gotta ask, "What are you going to use the Trappers for?"
Without that answer, there are just too many good answers.
Hunting, any of the above would be great, cowboy action, I'd want to drop down the weight and ensure I had a good feeding bullet. Plinkin', I'd drop the weight even more.
But, now, with all that said, my favorite all-around .357 boolit is a 158 RNFP. They'll feed well, safe in tube magazines, and I can use 'em in the handguns with proper powder charges.
It's just like the man once said, "everything is a compromise."

When I had a 92 Win clone in .357 mag I fed it a cast bullet it just loved and that was the RCBS 150 gr SWC. I couldn't believe how good the rifle and bullet both shot. As you notice that's not a real heavy bullet, that's why I like it.
